SHAMAN
VIII
This material is so beautiful
and rare that I'm not planing on selling it at this point in time.
(Unless, of course, I'm made an offer I can't refuse!)

MUSHROOM
PANELS
Several of the dozens of combinations under consideration.
Layout of the various pieces.
|
Individual pieces after trim saw.
|
Shaping the outline of individual pieces.
|
Shaping the final figures then moving on to the polish stage.
|
The tallest figure is 3-1/2+"
|
Some of the mushrooms are single
pieces whereas others have a separate crown and stem.
The question is: How many and which figures should go on an individual
panel?

SHAMAN
PANEL
This
piece is a representation of an archaic pictograph panel (The Shaman
Panel) found on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon

MUSHROOMS
Four identical slabs from one block of material
has been transformed into four Mushroom figures.
|
The two butt ends from the block used to create these figures
did not sit well in a frame, so this was addressed by filling
the backs in with the super-epoxy Hxtal.
The epoxy was tinted black for a more pleasing look.

Cutting the "stem" out of a beautiful piece of red gembone.

Do I mount them individually or together?

MOAB
SHAMANS VII & VIII

|
THE
FLAME
This is an older version of "The Flame".
|
My latest iterations will be mounted on a brass rod for
display.
I can carve left-hand, right-hand, 3-sided, 4-sided, or a
combination of
convex/concave shaping on each side.
The finished size will be ≈ 2-1/4" tall by ≈ 1-1/4" across
the widest face.
